Essex Cross Country League
SS Athletics Report – Hadleigh Cross Country 2025
On November 22nd, our athletes took to the field on home ground for the third Essex Cross Country League race for this season. The gruelling course involved jumping logs, clearing hay bales and climbing multiple steep hills and was a tough challenge to face for all our athletes.
The day kicked off with the under 11s race with a stand-out performance for Honor Burrows finishing 3rd in her category and some other phenomenal performances from the entire team, with both of our teams now being in 3rd overall.
Next up were our under 13s, braving 3km of this particularly challenging course. We had another 3rd place finish from Alfie Brotherwood and 4th for Fleur Burrows for the girls. After the race, our teams are both currently placed at the top of the league. Hopefully we can keep that up in the New Year for the final two races.
There were also some outstanding performances for our under 15s with the girls finishing 2nd and the boys finishing 4th. Overall, this puts both our teams in 2nd after 3 races with a stand-out performance from Sadie who finished third in her race.
After an already successful day of races, up came the under 17s for their 6km effort, and if completing 2 medium laps of this course wasn't tough enough, our athletes had to battle the rain too. We had two athletes brave enough to face the challenge; Anna and Annalise tackled the hills and mud exceptionally and both finished incredibly. Well done girls!
All in all, we had some outstanding performances in this league race and every athlete should feel incredibly proud of themselves. The day would not have been such a success without them!
